Fifteen-year-old Charlie is coping with the suicide of his friend, Michael. Charlie has a big fear of starting high school alone, so he starts writing letters to a stranger, someone he heard was nice but has never met in person.
Into Charlie's first week of high school, he already does not like it. He is being bullied and all his friends are changing into people they weren't before. He has nobody to turn to so he keeps writing letters because it is this only way he can express himself.
Question: Do you think that writing in a diary helps people figure out how to deal with their problems?
I don't think that writing in a diary helps people figure out how to deal with their problems because you're still keeping things bottled up. They aren't talking to anyone about their problems so there for no advice is being given to help them coop with what they are dealing with.
ReplyDeleteI think that writing in a diary does not help people figure out how to deal with their problems, I actually think that it's the other way around. People who write in diary are usually not very social, they isolate from the world and do not talk to people, they consider the diary as their best and only friend, and it's not good to be isolated from everything else. It can help them to get less frustrated with their problems but it would not help them solving their problems. This is my opinion!
ReplyDeleteCharlie had just lost a friend and has to start high school alone. With his only friend gone, he has no one to talk or to express his feelings too. By writhing in a diary, even if he is the only one listening, he gets to express his feelings to someone. That diary is someone. A big problem with writhing in a diary is that the diary is not a person. The "diary" can't give you feedback on how to make things better and they can't show any signs of concern. No. i don't think the diary helps people figure out how to deal with their problems.
ReplyDeleteI think writing in a diary is a bad way to deal with your problems because your just bottling up your bad feelings and making sad memories that you can easily access within a book.
