A main problem that occurred in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is that Charlie (the main character) has been going through many problems throughout his whole life and only realizes now what happened to make him this way. Charlie and Sam were hanging out and Sam started to touch Charlie inappropriately and he started to feel very uncomfortable and told her to stop. That night he had a dream about his Aunt Helen who was someone he idolized throughout his life, but then he started to have memories of his Aunt touching him the same way Sam was. Charlie had blocked this memory out of his life for a long time, and it caused him to have a very serious mental breakdown. He was put in the hospital and stayed there for over two months until he was better and the problem was solved.
Question: If you had a tragic memory the way Charlie did, do you think you would be able to block it out of your life and just try to forget about it, or would it affect you until you until you got help?
